OBJECTIVES:

  • To introduce the students to NGO sector and to provide an overview of NGOs
  • To equip the students for formation of NGOs
  • To equip students to manage all aspects of NGO – Manpower and Resource Mobilisation
  • To acquire knowledge and skills in the planning and  management of development projects
  • To expose students to the success stories of NGO and Other organisation- International/National/Regional level

PAPER I:  INTRODUCTION TO NGO                                                                10Hrs

  • NGO meaning, concept & characteristics
  • Principles & functions of NGO,
  • Problems of NGOs & remedial measures,
  • Central social welfare board & its functions,
  • Grant in aid – concept & pre requisite for release of grant

Practical:  Visit to NGO

PAPER II: MANAGEMENT OF ORGANISATION                                          10Hrs

  • National & international welfare organisation
  • Management administration organisation
  • Administrative process: POSDCORB
  • Executive responsibilities
  • Societies registration act 1860- Need, Significance, conditions and procedures
  • Bye laws & constitution
  • Role & responsibilities of Board, President, Secretary & Treasurer in a Registered Organisation

Practical: Guest lecture on Registration of NGOs

PAPER III: FUNDRAISING – PRINCIPLES AND STRATEGIES                 10Hrs

  • Concept of Fundraising – Meaning and Definition
  • Principles and Ethics in Fundraising
  • Strategies and tools for non-profit Fundraising
  • Foreign Contribution Regulation Act
  • Challenges of organising Fundraising efforts
  • National and International Funding organisations

Practical: Workshop on preparation of Grant Proposals

PAPER IV: PROJECT PLANNING & MANAGEMENT                                  10Hrs

  • Concept of Project –Meaning ,Types and components
  • Participatory project planning
  • Steps in Scientific Planning
  • Project design
  • Introduction of implementing organisation
  • Process of project formulation: Problem identification, Problem analysis, Action plan, Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Project Proposal

Practical: Designing a model of Project Planning & Proposal
