Alva’s College, Moodubidire, a highly sought-after center for higher education in the Indian state of Kamataka, nestles snugly on a grassy knoll overlooking a verdant landscape that brims with breathtaking scenic beauty. Armed with the vision of moulding a better tomorrow for the young brains through educational, cultural and sporting excellence, the college has been rendering yeoman service to society for more than two and a half decades. The institution, which is managed by Alva’s Education Foundation® (AEF), a brainchild of the visionary educationist, Dr. M. Mohan Alva, came into existence in 1998 with just two programmes having hardly twenty-five students. Over the years, Alva’s College has scaled dizzy heights spreading its name and fame at the international level attracting students not just from all over India but from different parts of the globe as well.

At present the college boasts a whopping student enrolment of more than 4500 spread across 32 UG Courses and 15 PG Courses. Famed for the integration of cultural and sport activities with academics, the college has emerged as an undisputed champion in the field of sports and cultural events besides carving a niche for itself in academics by bagging the highest number of ranks in Mangalore University examinations every year.

The Alva’s Research Center, established with the sole objective of fostering innovation through research, plays a pivotal role in enriching the research culture of the institution. The ICAI and other coaching centers functioning on the campus have been effectively facilitating the young aspirants to translate their tall dreams into reality. The Annual Mega Placement Drive, Pragathi, which the college organizes in association with the AEF, attracts more than 250 national and multinational companies to the campus paving the way for a large number of young aspirants to secure employment. Coupled with this, the Campus Recruitment Drives and the Off-Campus Placements that the institution conducts regularly smooth the career path of scores of rivalrous job-hunters. Bagging the coveted and creditable ‘A’ Grade from the national accrediting agency, NAAC, in 2018, the institution has marched ahead registering stupendous growth in varied areas. Considering the saga of success scripted by the institution, the University Grants Commission (UGC) granted it autonomy in 2024. The deserving honour bestowed on the college has kindled the fire of enthusiasm to rise still higher to earn the status of a Deemed to be University in the days ahead.
