The Guest Lecture programme held on 11-9-2015 at Alva’s College, Vidyagiri, Moodbidri was to refresh input knowledge of Manipuri students about the past and present situation of Manipur irrespective of Education/ Arts and Culture etc etc.
Associate Professor Dr. Thangjam Ranjit from Dhanamanjur College of Science, Imphal was the resource person and Shri Huidrom Yaima Singh, Retd. Deputy secretary to the governor of Manipur presided over the function. Mrs. Chungkham Priya Devi Lecturer of Manipuri Dept. was the Co-ordinator.
At the outset Dr. Thangjam Ranjit expressed his gratitude to Dr. M. Mohan Alva Chairman Alva’s Education Foundation ® and Dr.M.Nara Singh, former Minister, Arts and culture, Manipur for opening Manipuri Language as MIL under Mangalore University, Karnataka.
Dr. Thangjam Ranjit explained the situation of the past and present situation of Manipur in details. He also recalled that it was pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who bestowed upon Manipur the sobriquet it deserves ‘A Jewel of India’.
He also expressed his happiness towards Manipuri students for joining willingly his lecture. He congratulated the students for their academic affairs in such a place i.e. Moodbidri which is 4000+km distance from Manipur where there is most of the time always disturbances by bandh, strike, curfew etc etc. He advised the students to maintain strict discipline and hard work to bring laurel for Manipur.
Further Shri H Yaima Singh greeted to attending students and wished them for the best. He also asked the students to work hard and to maintain discipline for the values of future life. Shri H Yaima thanked resource person Dr. Thangjam Ranjit for sparing his valuable time for the cause of Manipuri Language. He suggested to organize such lectures at regular intervals.
Lastly Shri Huidrom Yaima Singh President of the function expressed his gratefulness to Dr.M.Mohan Alva Chairman for opening Manipuri Language in the Alva’s College.
