The department of Zoology was established in the year 1998. Three experienced faculty members are supporting and guiding the students. The department organizes various activities, seminars, guest lectures, extension activities etc for the students. It conducts field trips and study tours for the students to visit various research institutions, zoological parks to gain additional practical knowledge. The department encourages the staffs and students to participate in various national and state level seminars, conferences and workshops.

The departmental library has a good collection of books as well as e-journals and e-contents related to the subject.
The students display their articles and art works in the wall magazine of the department – “Anifriction”.

Field visit to Dairy farm, Dharmasthala on 19/08/2017. Objectives: To study different breeds of Dairy, their maintenance, milking, housing system etc.
Field visit to “Samruddhi” Vermiculture unit, Dharmasthala on 19/08/2017. Objectives: To study the method of vermicomposting, different species of earthworm used in vermiculture, materials used and to study wormiwash.
Field Trip to Visit to Manipal Anatomy and pathology Centre on 17/02/2018. Objectives: To study anatomy and pathology of human body.
Field Trip to Milk Collection and Processing Section, Manipal Dairy on 17/02/18. Objectives: To study milk collection and its processing, packing, various dairy products.
Extension activity in Mukthananda Paramahamsa High School, Belvai on 29/12/2017. Objectives: Model Demonstration of different organ systems.
Working Model Competition held on 16/08/2017 for Life Science Students in Zoology Laboratory.
Seminar Competition held on 10/01/2017 in Zoology Laboratory for Life Science Students (Topic related to Zoology).
Certificate Course: Vermiculture. Objectives: To prepare natural compost by using earthworms without any chemicals.
