Introduction
The Department of UG Physical Education was established in the year 1998. Since then our student have achieved glorious and remarkable results in the field of sports and games.
Our college has a separate wing of sports and games in which students were adopted under sports quota. They were facilitated with free hostel facilities, uniforms and education. They were trained by qualified and expert coaches throughout the year.
Our students have played in various games in the university. State and National competitions with the majority of victory. Many of our students were represented the university, state, national and international competitions and grabbed the medals. Our students have set records in many events which is still unbroken in the university and state and national calendar.
University, state and national level coaching camps were organized by our college, sate national and inter – university competition were organized in the events like athletics, kho – kho, ball badminton etc… The inter collegiate, inter – district and state competitions were also organized in different games and athletics.
Our students were provided with the free sports kit, medical facility, TA,DA at the time of competition and training.

Nurturing sports talents and creating systems for integrated development. Study of physical education help the student to know about the importance of sports activities to develop the overall personality. It helps for lifestyle development and higher level of achievement in sports. It enhances the health and fitness of the student. It boots the recreation of the student.

Eligibility
Candidate who has passed the two years Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board in the State of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent there to by Mangalore University is eligible for admission to these programmes.

Facilities
Ball Badminton Court
The big area of the Badminton Court was prepared in the year 2012-13. The court was prepared in the level of National competitions. There were 4 courts which was prepared with a good standard in the budget 0f Rs. 5 Lakhs. TWO ALL INDIA NATIONAL COMPETITION were organized in the same court.
Basket Ball Court
The Basketball Cement Court was prepared in the year 2016-17 at the budget of Rs. 7 Lakhs. The court was prepared in the view of facilitating the students for regular practices. Standard fiber board was purchased for practice and competition purposes.
Handball Court
The new handball court was prepared in the year 2015-16. Two Handball court were prepared for the practice of Men and Women. The court was prepared with good standard, at the budget of Rs. 2 Lakhs.
Volleyball Court
The big arena of volleyball court was prepared to facilitate the students for practice purpose as well as play area for other athletes after their daily training programme. There were 04 volleyball courts, which was prepared in the year 2012 and 2015.
Softball Playing Dimension
A separate softball dimension is also prepared for the purpose of practice.
Standard 400 Mts Athletic Synthetic Track
Alva’s college has produced many state, National and International athletes in the same track. The 75nd ALL INDIA INTER-UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP was organized in the year 2014-15 By Alva’s Education Foundation. The track was Prepared in the same year by the Govt. of Karnataka, which was handed over to Alva’s Education Foundation, for maintenance and practice purpose (The copy of M.O.U attached). Many inter school competitions, inter college competitions, state competitions and national athletics competitions were also organized by Alva’s Education Foundation in the same track. It is the pride of Alva’s Education Foundation and the people of Moodbidri.
Regular Aactivities
- Intramurals – We conduct annual sports and games activities among the students according to their strength, class wise/faculty wise and honored with individual championship for mens and womens sections, medals, trophies, certificates and cash prizes.
- Extramural – We conduct some local endowment, festivals tournaments and competitions for students, staff and old students.
