HRD is about improved performance and productivity through increased knowledge, competencies, skills and attitudes.
Human resource development is the process of encouraging employees to acquire new skills and knowledge through various training programmes, courses and learning packages. In recent years, HRD has moved beyond the notion of Training to a more holistic view embracing development at both individuals and as well as organizational levels which leads to the idea of a learning organization. Many organizations have now begun to take it as a crucial source of competitive advantage. Now in most of the organizations.
HRD has moved out from the training departments into every aspect of organizational life as many organizations claim attraction to the idea of a learning organization. It is viewed as the only strategy to cope up with change. The goal of HRD is to improve the performance of the organizations by maximizing the efficiency and performance of their people.
In HR profession one may have a career that offers good working conditions, excellent remuneration, good career growth opportunities and rewarding work. Every large and medium size organization keeps a fully functional HRM/HRD/Personnel department managed by HR professionals.
Trainees in HR subjects are in great demand. Their role is considered important in making employees motivated, developing managerial and leadership competencies and teaching soft skills like communication, business etiquettes etc.
A trainee may freelance or may join some training agency. With knowledge, experience and expertise in HR one may work as a coach, mentor or counsellor also. In social and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), in Software companies there is a need of HR experts.
Thus job opportunities for HR professionals are varied and exciting. HR is a key component of an organization’s senior and top management team. No corporate policy can be complete without contribution from HR.
HRD Department: Changing business scenario focusing more on the HRD issues, giving due importance and recognition to human resources in all fields of local, national and international levels has motivated to start BHRD degree course under the semester system in the year 2004 with 23 students.
Objectives of the department:
* To develop conceptual, technical and human relations skill among the students through formal and informal education.
* To build specific competency to meet the focused demand of the competitive world.
* To shape personality to face future and lead better professional, social and personal life.
* To help contribute to national development through dynamic personality development.
* To provide platform for the skill development of the students to make them employable.
