Alva’s Nudisiri from November 18

Moodbidire: The 13th edition of Alva’s Nudisiri 2016, the annual three day Kannada Literary meet organized by Alva’s Education Foundation, will be held at Vidyagiri in Moodbidire from November 18.

The theme of the Alva’s Nudisiri is ‘Karnataka: Naalegala Nirmana’.  The literary meet will presided over by eminent writer and retired Sanskrit teacher from Hassan B N Sumithra Bai. The organizing committee has chosen Sumithra Bai to chair the meet keeping in mind her immense contribution to the field of literature.

 Sumithra Bai was born in Mysuru and settled in Hassan. She was awarded PhD for her thesis on ‘Jinasenana Harivamsha Purana’. She has carried out research on Jain Mahabharata in Kannada and published it in English.

 Kannada writer Jayanth Gaurish Kaikini will inaugurate the literary meet. Hailing from Gokarna in Uttara Kannada, he is a gold medalist in MSc Bio-technology. Kaikini brought out his first compilation of poems, ‘Rangadindondisthu Doora’ at the age of 19. He has won Karnataka Sahithya Acedemy award four times. He is also a poet, dramatist and columnist.

The entry for student delegates to the literary meet is free and a nominal delegate fee of Rs100 will be charged for others.
